CDTRADSTA - Cadet Radio Station
- A New Initiative
Introduce more science, technology and engineering into the training programme.
Use Amateur Radio as a vehicle.
Can be pursued on an individual or corps/squadron level.
Started 2 years ago in Ontario. Over 70 cadets now participating and over 20 licensed. Over 6 Corps now have licensed radio stations.
Fully supported and promoted by the Navy League.
Being considered for full support by DND for all Corps and Squadrons.
Training available from local Hams as well as on line.
Course manuals available on loan from the Navy League.
Radios, antennas and other equipment can be obtained with help from the Leagues and local Ham clubs.
A radio station is not mandatory in the beginning.
Helps teach commitment
Lifelong technical skills in electricity and electronics as well as other technologies
Earn a federal government Amateur Radio Operator Certificate
Opens a door to a technical career
Opens a door to a lifelong hobby
An excellent precursor to the world of the Naval Communicator
Provides an opportunity to communicate around the world
